Show Building still unfinished 30 2 Approximately 7 0 students will enter SHS at a new location loca-tion Monday amid the sounds of workmen's machines and nearly finished classrooms. During a recent tour of the building, Supt. Russell Stans-field Stans-field pointed out that although many of the facilities are not finished the building is complete com-plete enough to hold classes. Carpeting is presently finished finish-ed in the administrative areas only, and although not planned, it is felt that due to outside landscape conditions it is better bet-ter that the classroom carpeting carpet-ing has not been completed. Supt. Stansfield pointed out that with the exception of the auditorium and gymnasiums, other classroom areas can be used. For the time being they are not fancy but he said they can be made to order for the starting of school and in most instances will be equal to what was available in the old high school. Supt. Stansfield indicated that seminary would be taught in classrooms rented by the LDS Church from the school district until completion of the i new seminary building on the southeast corner of the new school complex. He also stated that there will the old high school for use of the od high school for use of any of the facilities there. Football games will be played at North Park as in the past and training will be held either at North Park or at the old : high school after school as in ! the past. i Assemblies will be held in the lunch room with the first one scheduled Monday morning. ! The bell system does not func- ',; tion at the present time, but : the superintendent stated that ,: this would not pose too great a problem as classes in other schools have functioned in the past during power failures. Outside conditions are steadily stead-ily improving and a walkway will be graveled from Brook- ;! side to the nef school for stu- dents to walk on. Superintendent Stansfield also al-so pointed out the bussing facilities fa-cilities will be continued the same is in the past until the bridere and road are completed David Haight, speaker at the C. of C. business-education, good will breakfast at 7 a.m., Friday, at the Art Building, ! at which Springville and Mapleton teachers will be guests. Reservations may be ' made as late as today at noon. Mr. Haight is a special ' assistant to President Ernest ' L. Wilkinson of BYU. on 900 South and at that time some adjustments will be made. School regulations require bussing buss-ing of students who live more than two miles from the education educa-tion facility. The superintendent also asked ask-ed that all parking for faculty and students alike be in the area to the northeast of the building. Construction of the building was started in 1965 and was scheduled for completion by July 15, 1967. However, due to strikes and the unavailability of material due to the Vietnam war, construction has been delayed. |
