Show Cooperation is a necessity School starts in Springville on Monday. This includes in-cludes occupancy of the new high school which under no stretch of the imagination can be called finished. The building when finished will be a beautiful and functional facility and something that every member of the community can look to with pride. However, this unfinished facility leaves education leaders with several problems. Chief among these will be the problem of teaching while workmen finish their job. This will demand rescheduling re-scheduling of classes in other rooms, use of the lunchroom as a multi-purpose room serving as an athletic area, assembly as-sembly hall, band and chorus area and other needs as occasions arise, and keeping students in safe areas, out of the way of workmen. Many in the community have suggested that the school be held in the old high school, as was the case last year. According to school officials this is impossible because of changes in the old high school, remodeling of the Jefferson School, and contractual agreements with teachers for the coming school year. Many in the community have said that occupancy at this point in construction of the building will relieve the contractor and architect of many responsibilities in proper finishing of the building. Superintendent Stansfield Stans-field has assured that this is not the case and that the building will be properly finished to the last detail. Much cooperation is going to be needed between students, teachers, contractors, parents and school officials offic-ials if Springville High School students are to receive proper instruction and education in the coming months. I We feel that this can be done. |
