Show Fitness week begins today CEDAR CITY - the second annual Cedar City Recreation Department May Fitness Week will begin today with the opening round of the basketball tournament. Games will be played at War Memorial Fieldhouse beginning with the St. George versus Laing game at 6 p.m. Minersville meets O'Driscoll at 7:15 p.m., Cedar High faces Player at 8:30 p.m. and Ogden versus Wells at 9:45. Players expected for the tourney include former SUSC great Dunn Lee, current SUSC players Gene Player, Todd Christensen, Dean O'Driscoll, Norman Adams, Wilie Hicks and others, plus ex-Weber State player Jeff Myers, former Wyoming Cowboy Jim Dalton and current Cedar High players K.C. Jones and Robert Nakken. The games are free to the public and will continue con-tinue through Saturday with each night's games beginning at 6 p.m. On Saturday, two more Fitness Week programs will be conducted. There will be a big wheel bike race for kids ages 2-5 at the city ballpark. The race wil consist of straight runs and obstacle ob-stacle courses for time with ribbon awarded. Two and three-year-olds bikers begin at 10 a.m., and four and five year olds at 11 a.m. There is no charge for the race, and everyone is encouraged en-couraged to come and participate. Also on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m., for T-Ball-.Little League-and Senior Little League-age kids, there will be a baseball clinic. The clinic is designed to further the players' knowledge of the game and to help teach proper fundamentals. |
