Show Rod Decker announces commission candidacy hY. the University of Utah. He is currently chairman of the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences at SUSC, and associate professor of Political Science. He is a past Iron County Democratic chairman; has been active in several local, a state, and national campaigns; and worked as a legislative assistant lor the United State Senate in Washington, D.C. The issue that Decker feels requires the most immediate attention is the jail issue. "A decision by county officials and local citizens as to how we meet the necessary legal jail needs of this county in the most efficient, effective manner possible, as quickly as possible, is necessary if we are to avoid additional lawsuits and ever increasing expenses over which we may have no control," Decker stated. Also, he encouraged "more cooperation and coordination between county officials and other government officials to increase tourism in Iron County," and he pledged "to work for greater development of the natural and human resources of Iron County without destroying the unique ev-vironment ev-vironment we have all come to appreciate ap-preciate and enjoy."
