I Cedar swimmers to represent Utah JL CEDAR CITY - Three Color Country Aquatic Club members have been selected by the Utah Swimming Association to represent a Utah All-Star team in a May 14-15 meet against a fine group of swimmers from Wyoming. Selected to compete for Utah from the Cedar City team were Tyler Brinkerhoff, Paul Lunt and Cris Chamberlain. Brinkerhoff will swim in the 13-14-year-old age group. He will swim the 50-meter freestyle and 200-meter freestyle relay. Lunt will compete in the 9-10 a age group and will swim the 50-meter butterfly. but-terfly. Chamberlain is also in the 9-10 group and will compete in the 100-, 200- and 400-meter freestyle events, the 200-meter 200-meter individual medley, 50-meter backstroke, 200-meter 200-meter medley relay and 200-meter freestyle relay. The selection of these three youngsters marks the first time that anybody from Cedar City has been selected to represent Utah in competition against other states. "It's kind of a first for us, and it's kind of exciting," ex-citing," smiled Dick Coston, Color Country Aquatics Club coach. The upcoming meet will be conducted at the Bountiful City Pool. Each state will be represented by about 90 swimmers. Darin DeMille, age eight, is one tired swimmer as he climbs from the pool following a race. The youngster was one of over 80 swimmers who were involved in a duel meet Saturday at the Cedar City pool. Swimmers ranging in age from seven to 17 participated in the event. |
