Show Letters to the editor $ -f :. Concerned Editor: We, the parents in the BMX Organization are; of course, concerned about the teachings of our youth. This past week, since the BMX track was destroyed, our children have had a lot of good examples. They have seen how civic clubs in our community, do care about the youth; The Kiwanis Club has supported this fast-growing sport since interest first started in Cedar City. Along with a lot of hard working men from Western Rock, Allred Enterprises, En-terprises, and U&S Motors," the track was rebuilt We had help from the city, the college, the fire departmenet,, the merchants,, neighbors, and several people, who, after hearing what had happened, called and offered any help they could give. This, together with several dozen kids and parents, helped get the track into racing condition for- the' races the following morning. Seeing people ban together like this was a very good example! . . . i We only fear now, that if. this neighbor, neigh-bor, who took the law. intoi his own hands, is not broughtto justice, in one form or another, that it would be very hard for us to try and teach our youth to respect the law as they should. Our youth have been encouraged not to retaliate,- but to better themselves and just concentrate' on getting their new track completed; BMX in not only a healthy sport, but the rules teach sportsmanship and care of equipment, and no fowl language is allowed or. a contestant will be disqualified; It is for boys and girls from under five years , old (bigwheelers) to as old as anyone wants to ride. We are thankful for all the citizens in Cedar City who care about our community and the activities of our youth. : ,' Gailltobb Secretary, BMX Organization . . These people make living in Cedar City, a joy and. a place where kids can enjoy sports and good clean recreation. " The races took place on Saturday morning- May 1 as planned and were a huge success I hope that the enjoyment: those kids got from the races might compensate a little for the agony they went through seeing their track ruined.
