Show SU s pikers whip Badgers CEDAR CITY - The Southern Utah State College volleyball team continued its winning ways this past week as they downed the Badgers of Snow College, winning three of four games. ' "The match was very close," said Joy Peteson, SUSC coach. SU lost the initial game 13-15. They battled back to win the next three 15-4, 15-12 and 15-2. Despite the large margin of victory, Snow played the 'Birds tough. Badger players made few mistakes but the T-Birds T-Birds aggressive offense was too much for their small-school foes. SUSC has 52 kills while Snow had 39. Southern Utah blocked 23 shots and Snow had only 6. This failure to turn back T-Bird T-Bird spikes was the Badgers weak spot. According to Peterson, several Southern Utah players performed well against Snow. Lisa Stolk, Gloria Grover, Lori McCurdy and Paula Burgoyne all played very well. The 'Birds did sustain one injury that could prove costly. McCurdy hurt a hand in the encounter en-counter but should see more action. Lady 'Birds are continuing con-tinuing their quest for an RMAC championship. If. they hold on and win the title, they will host thel conference tourney on II Nov. 5. II |
