Show Letters to the editor Safety reminder Editor: School buses are once again loading and unloading children at bus stops along our highways. The Utah Highway High-way Patrol is concerned for the safety of children. Remember, state law requires ail motorists to stop for school buses which are displaying red lights. The only exception to this is on a divided high way where on-coming traffic is not required to stop. The Utah Highway Patrol has received several complaints from school bus drivers throughout the Southern Utah area that many motorists are not stopping. If the bus driver can obtain a license number from a car as it illegally passes a bus, we will pursue all complaints by writing the registered owner and reminding them of the hazards. In cases where the driver can be identified, iden-tified, enforcement action will be taken. Motorists have the lives of the children in their hands. We urge everyone to obey the laws and yield the right-of-way to these children as they load and unload from school buses. Lt. Bob Greenhalgh Division 11 Utah Highway Patrol |
