Show SUSC coach pleased with golf teams game After 90 holes of golf in two meets last week, the Southern Utah State College golf team will take the next two weeks off in preparation for the Ev Thorpe Invitational October 22-23 in Cache 1 Valley. "We are pleased about some aspects of our game," Tom Kingsford, SU golf coach says. "We were sitting 13th after the first two rounds in the Air Force Academy Falcon Invitational, and that was in a field of 32 teams, many of them NCAA Division I. We had all kinds of trouble with our game the final day, but still finished 21st. . Kingsford was also happy with a midweek victory over Mesa College in an 18-hole dual meet at Grand Junction. SUSC, led by freshman Stuart Adams (Spanish Fork) and junior Doug Lee (Boulder City) beat the Mavericks by seven strokes, 316 to 323. Adams recorded a 76, while Lee shot a 78. Senior Erik Lane (Orange, CA) shot a 54-hole 54-hole 240 to lead Southern Utah in the Falcon Invitational. In-vitational. Following Lane were Adams (241) and Lee (250). Lane improved his play considerably from the Mesa dual where he didn't even reach the top four T-Bird finishers to score. |
