Show Farmers co-op to meet The annual meeting of the Utah Council of Farmer Cooperatives has been scheduled for Oct. 15 at the Salt Lake Airport Hilton Inn, in the Salt Lake International . Center. Thedford (Ted) Roper, : Cache Valley Diary Association, president of the Utah council, said the annual meeting coincides with the observance of National Co-op Month, sponsored by the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives. There are about 40,000 farmer cooperatives now operating in the United States, with 14 cooperatives in Utah, Roper said. General sessions of the annual meeting begin Oct. 15, with 8:30 a.m. registration in the Hilton Inn Lindberg Center. Meetings will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the same location. Attendees will hear addresses by Dr. Doyle Matthews, dean of the College of Agriculture, X m ? . Utah State University. "Future of Agriculture in Utah and the role of Farmer Cooperatives," BenW. Lindsay, director, Utah Department of Agriculture, "Importance "Im-portance of Agriculture in Utah;" Donald E. Graham, vice president and general counsel, National Council of Farmer Cooperatives, "Impact of Recent Court Cases on Organization and Operation of Cooperatives;" and Richard Fenwick, general counsel, Central Bank for Cooperatives, Denver, "How Co-ops Can Prepare to Cope with Today's Inflation and High Interest Rates." Members of the Youth Section of the Utah Council will join adult members for a joint luncheon and business session in the Billy Mitchell Room at 12:30 p.m. Keynote speaker will be Dr. Bill Black, professor of Agricultural Economics, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas. Black will speak on "New " Challenges and Ideas for Cooperatives." Awards to outstanding members of the Youth Section will be presented, along with the Council's "Cooperator of the Year" award.
