Show BLM publish policy The Department of the Interior's Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has published its final policy for managing public lands designated by Congress as wilderness areas. BLM Director Robert F. Burford said even though work is still continuing on review of the ' public lands for wilderness suitability, the final policy has been prepared to inform the public, the Congress and other government agencies about the impact im-pact and meaning of wilderness designation by Congress. The policy contains general guidelines as well as details on specific activities ac-tivities that may or may not be allowed in BLM-administered BLM-administered wilderness areas. Knowledge of management policy will be helpful during the Bureau's wilderness studies and deliberations on wilderness recommendations recom-mendations affecting j public lands, he said. Copies of the wilderness wilder-ness management policy will soon be available from all BLM offices. |
