Mike Bahr and Aerlette Pence took first place in duo-scene competition, Westminster Division, with a superior rating. The duo also won SUSC scholarships. Second place in the same area was won by RHS students Karen Lewis and Becki Bahr. Plans are already underway for the sixth annual Utah High School Shakespeare Competition to be conducted next fall at Southern Utah State College. The expanded program includes a workshop on stage combat .and stage fighting. "We've found that students are interested in Shakespeare, that they are expanding their knowledge of his plays and are presenting some excellent segments of the Shakespearean canon here during the annual, competition," said R. Scott Phillips, theater public relations director. "Because of this, we plan to expand our program." Heading the list of 1981-82 1981-82 activities is a workshop in stage combat and stage fighting by David Boushey, president of the American Fight Masters Association. Boushey's long list of credentials include serving as resident fight master for the Seattle Repertory Theater, American Conservatory , Theater in San Fran-'' cisco, and Utah, San. Diego, Illinois and , Oregon Shakespeare festivals. "Along with instruction in the use of rapiers,' daggers and broad-, swords, visiting students will see the Shakespeare;. Costume Tour, a longtime show jointly sponsored by the Utah Shakespearean Festival, and SUSC Department of j Theater Arts, and will., have the opportunity for', some professional coaching from visiting competition judges, many of them actors with the festival," Phillips said. : The USF and college--theater department aiM: co-sponsors for the UtaK High School Shakespeare Competition which recently drew over 200- students to the SUSC campus. "Fifteen schools at-tended at-tended the festival, three more than last year," Phillips said.
