Show Long-time teacher cited Fae Benson, a longtime long-time Iron County educator was presented an honorary life membership mem-bership in the Iron County PTA Council Feb. 26 at the council's regular meeting. Mrs. Benson has taught first, second and third grades, a mixed fourth and fifth grade and kindergarten during her career. She retired in May of 1961. after 40 years of i teaching in the elementary schools. Upon receiving the award she noted that she had taught Superintendent Superin-tendent Clair Morris In the first grade. "He's really made progress," she laughed. Mrs. Benson has also been active in church and civic groups. She has been president of the Cedar City LDS Third Ward YMIA, has served on the Primary stake board and the Sunday School stake board and has taught Sunday School classes. She was the captain of the Elizabeth Camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for four years, and was county captain lor three additional year. She has been a member of the Parowan Literary Club since 1922 and was a member of the Parowan City Library Board for several years. i |
