Show SUSC elects woman pres J ( f V - ' 'J TZZ 'i X Evan Jolley. Barnes is a 1973 graduate of Blair High School, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Jay Barnes. Cedar City students Lori Jean Stoker and Brenda , Stones will represent school of education students in the ASSUSC Senate. Both are 1979 graduates of Cedar High School; both are education majors. Stoker is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Stoker.. Stones is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mario Stones. Newly elected senators for the school of science are Charles Heaton, a sophomore pre-veterinary pre-veterinary science major from Alton, Kane County; and Steven Starr, a junior chemistry major from Cedar City. Heaton is a 1977 graduate of Valley High School, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Heaton. Starr is a 1978 graduate of Cedar High School, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Starr. Metcalf. Millecam is a 1977 graduate of Uintah High School, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ab-planalp. Ab-planalp. Two members of the SUSC forensic squad were elected arts and letters senators. Nancy Ve Adams, a psychology major from Cedar City; and Kayron Madson, a communications major from Payson, earned senate seats. Adams is a 1979 graduate of Cedar High School, a SUSC sophomore and the daughter of Norman Adams. Madson is a 1976 graduate of Payson High School, a SUSC senior an the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raydon Madson. Senators for business an technology are Jan L. Jolley, a freshman business major from Cedar City; and Jeffrey Barnes, a freshman accounting major from Pasadena, Calif. Ms. Jolley is a 1980 graduate of Cedar High School, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. sophomore, junior and senior classes, along with two senators to represent each of SUSC's four academic shcools, are elected each February. New senior senators are Monty Sorensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glade Sorensen, Cedar City; and Marianne Meldrum, daughter of Mrs. Helen Meldrum, Spanish Fork. Sorensen is a 1977 graduate of Cedar High School, a zoology major. Meldrum graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1978; she is an English major. Two Cedar City students were elected junior class senators. Bill Engle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walt Engle; and Kirk Jones, son of Kerry Jones and Carol Ann Nyman, will represent SUSC juniors in senate proceedings. Engle is a 1976 graduate of Cedar High School; Jones graduated from CHS in 1977. Both are general education majors. Newly elected sophomore senators are ( Kathleen "Kathy" Met- " calf, a general education major from Salem, Utah County; and Kevin Millecam, a business administration major from Vernal.' Metcalf is a 1980 graduate of Spanish Fork High School, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel E. Michelle Benson . . . elected studentbody president graduate of Olympus High School, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hal Hard-castle. Hard-castle. The three top officers will take the oath of office with 14 newly elected senators and will remain in office through the end of next winter quarter. Several appointed officers of-ficers will be selected in the near future to round out student government. Freshmen senators are elected during fall quarter; male and female senators for The first woman studentbody president in Southern Utah State College history was elected in general elections last week. Michelle "Shelly" Benson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. Kenneth Benson, Cedar City, will u.h. the helm of student government later this month. She will direct activities of the ASSUSC Executive Council and will represent SUSC's 2,000 students on the SUSC International Council. She succeeds Eric Houle, Dugway, who is wrapping up an unprecedented un-precedented second term as studentbody president. Ms. Benson defeated another Cedar City student, Brad Myers, in the general election. More than 700 students voted, an excellent turnout according to Betty Ann Bender, Las Vegas, elections chairwoman. chair-woman. The newly elected studentbody president is a vfteran of SUSC stuiient government, currently serving as the ASSUSC executive secretary. She has also served as a justice on the ASSUSC High Court, as a member of the SUSC Disciplinary Committee and a two-year stint as secretary for the ASSUSC Senate. Ms. Benson graduated from Cedar High School in 1977, the outstanding secretarial science graduate. She is a senior at SUSC, majoring in business administration. James K. Reese, a sophomore accounting major, was elected studentbody vice president. Reese is a 1977 graduate of Cedar High School, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elden Reese. Tom J.
