Show Deseret News race named in top 1 00 by Runner's World The Deseret News Marathon, Utah's first and largest 26.2-miler, was named among the top 100 road races in the country this week by Runner's World magazine. In its annual yearbook, the magazine named 25 top American road races and another 75 events offering good courses and top competition. Marty Post, Runner's World statistician, estimated "between 5,000 and 8,000 organized races in the country today," but selected the 100 through a panel of running experts and nominations by runners themselves. The race is held in conjunction with the Days of '47 parade each year on July 24 starting at 5:30 a.m. The course includes the - scenic beauty of Utah's major , canyons along . with thousands of spectators along the parade route. |
