Show Oil storage planned Zion Energy Corporation is beginning initial stages toward constructing a 105-acre 105-acre fuel and oil storage facility in the desert of western Iron County. Scott Bulloch, a local engineer who represents the Utah corporation, appeared ap-peared before the Iron County Commission Com-mission last week to apply for a building permit for the project, planned just north and west of the Zane road, f:'p miles east of Beryl. Bulloch said the facility will be for the bulk storage of oil and oil products, such as lube oil, solvent, propane, diesel fuel, fuel oil and gasoline. There will be no refining. Included will be 160,000 barrels of gasoline. "Of course this is MX related," said Bulloch. Although he mentioned no starting time for construction, he noted that it would be a $2 to $3 million project and would employ about ten people. The County Commission gave its blessing to the project. However, Commissioner Howard Knight requested that the plans be taken to the Iron County Planning Commission "just so they know what's going on out there." Bulloch agreed to such a proposal. However, Iron County Attorney James L. Shumate noted that the development will come under the present zoning and planning ordinances, rather than the new ones, which have not yet been approved and formally adopted by the county commission. |
