Show Redmen Dominate Cavemen 74-53 It was a big week for the Cedar High School Redmen as they took on the top contenders in the Region Six basketball wars. Although the Redmen faltered against the Bulldogs of Provo in action Thursday night losing by 23 points but they bounced back to defeat previously once beaten American Fork 74 to 53. . Against the Dons of American Fork the Redmen had one of the better outing of the season and "split against the top two teams in the Region was a big plus for us," commented Coach John Neilsen. The Redmen controlled the game from the outset and really took command in the third quarter to win going away. "It was only the second loss of the season for American Fork and it came after a road win over the Flyers at St. George Friday night making the victory all the more important for us," Coach Neilsen said. The Redmen moved the ball well offensively and shot well from the field although they connected on less than 50 percent of their shots from the charity stripe. Dave Corry had a big week as he tanked 29 points in leading the Redmen to their victory over the Cavemen. "It was a big team effort with probably the best ball control that we have had all season," Neilsen said. Kevin Webb came off the bench to contribute 17 points, Scott Henderson poured in 13 while Troy Lunt added 9 in the big win. For the visiting Cavemen they were led by Dennis Fox with 16 points. |
