Show Public backs Miller Decision Support for the decision of the hearing examiner on the discrimination case filed by Justice of the Peace Margaret Miller that ruled in favor of Judge Miller over Iron County was evidenced at the commission com-mission meeting Wednesday. As a result of an appeal, for public input as to whether the county should accept the decision or appeal, a series of letters and petitions supporting the decision favoring Miller was presented to the commissioners. Over 610 signatures had, been obtained ob-tained in an effort to show support for the court decision and against further appeals by the county and "we expect to have more by the time we actually make the presentation," a spokesman stated late Tuesday. Addressed to the County Commission, Com-mission, the endorsement for the decision which ordered that the Commission should reimburse Judge Miller $1,284 for calendar year 1979, the statement read as follows: Gentlemen: "In response to your question posed in the 'Iron County Record' as to whether or not you should pursue the matter of Justice of the Peace Margaret Miller's suit in a higher court, I submit the following: 1. I agree with the outcome of the trial as decided by the court. 2. This matter has gone far enough. I do not wish even one more of my tax dollars to be spent on this matter." The above statement appeared in individual letters and in a series of petitions signed by residents of Iron County. At the last meeting of the Iron County Commission, one of the commissioners as reported in the "Record" suggested that the public be asked to respond to the court's decision. It was based on this request that the over 610 signatures supporting the court action were obtained and presented to the Commission Wednesday Wed-nesday for the consideration. r |
