Show Zion Park Stake Holds '41 Sunday School Meet On Sunday, February 9 By JULIA WHITNEY HURRICANE, Utah. Zion Park stake held its 1941 Sunday school convention on February 9, with James N. Kirkham, James L. Barker and Mr. Holt of the general gen-eral board as visitors. The first meeting of the morning morn-ing was for the stake superintendents. superin-tendents. After discussing the problems of the stake, James L. Barker spoke on the stake board organization, its function, the supervision sup-ervision and Union meetings. Stake standard and teacher training train-ing was discussed by Mr. Holt and Mr. Kirkham took up genealogical genea-logical classes. The stake board meeting followed fol-lowed immediately after this. James L. Barker spoke on the 1941 courses of study for the different dif-ferent age groups. After this brief explanation, the group was assigned to departments. James L. Barker discussed the problems of superintendent, secretaries, libraries, li-braries, enlistment officers, and the gospel doctrine. Mr. Kirkham met the genealogical people and Mr. Holt led the meeting for the remainder of the departments. The afternoon session included the teachers and all visitors who wished to attend. Following the song service, Mr. Holt spoke on , Sunday school singing and music. Mr. Barker, in speaking on order, reverence and punctuality, emphasized empha-sized careful planning, good examples, ex-amples, correct atmosphere, the beginning of Sunday school on time as things conducive to good order in Sunday schools. Sacrament service and the respect res-pect and reverence due it was taken up by Mr. Kirkham. The group separated, and to one group Mr. Holt gave instructions instruc-tions as to how to provide instructional in-structional material and aids, how to use the manuals, and how to adequately motivate, make and follow up assignments. Mr. Barker gave instructions on how to improve im-prove worship service, how to secure se-cure punctuality, order reverence, and also how to develop 2 -minute talks. . After re-assembling, Mr. Barker left a parting message of keeping the Sunday school full strength and for all to do their utmost in preparing their lessons. |
