Show Hurricane Julia Whitney Reporter Tryouts for the annual Hurricane high school opera, "Rose of the Danube", by G. F. Morgan and A. A. Penn was held last Thursday Thurs-day and Friday. The following students were selected: se-lected: Jack Ballard, Delworth Stout, Wilma Isom, Burdell Wood, Lucille RusselL Laurel Jackson, Donna Crawford, George Slack, Willard Humphries, Lloyd Button, Mace Graff, Eldon Walker, Beu-lah Beu-lah Barber and Mary Spendlove. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil F. Baker and small son of Delta, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Baker of Beaver and Mr. and Mrs. John Cooper of Cedar City were week-end visitors visit-ors at the home of Mrs. Ethel Baker a week ago. Mrs. Charles B. Petty, Norma Petty and Mrs. Verne Hunt of Salt Lake City were Saturday visitors at the home of Mrs. Ethel Baker and friends. Mr. 'and Mrs. John Cooper and Doyle Topham of Cedar City were Saturday visitors at Hurricane. Vincent Hoyt and Clemens Hin-ton Hin-ton recently returned from Los Angeles. The North ward Beehive girls, 22 in number, enjoyed a social held at the home of LaPrele Isom. last Tuesday evening. A cottage meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Harriet Lee on Wednesday, February 5, with Mrs. Jesse Jepson in charge. William Isom, Enrol Woodbury, John Humphries Hum-phries and Joseph Webb were the speakers. The Alice Louise Reynolds club met Friday at the home of Mrs. Garth Sandberg, with Mrs. Paul Wilson as assistant hostess. The book, "Phantom Empire", by Ber-tita Ber-tita Hardy was reviewed by Mrs. William Esplin, and the geography of Mexico was given by Erma Stevens. Mrs. E. J. Graff and sons. Mace and Shirl, played, "South of the Border". A guest was Mrs. Ralph Gillespie. Mrs. and Mrs. Bill Fulmer and children of Springville, Mrs. Jessie Black and children were visitors at the home of John Humphries last week. Joe Smith of Springville is here visiting with relatives. Kenneth Tobler of Santa Clara is in town working for Scholzen Products company. The Hurricane chapter of the F. F. A. went to Cedar City Monday Mon-day to inspect a potato exhibit and listen to a lecture on the characteristics of potatoes. |
