Show Senator Claud Hirschi Votes WOn S.J. R.2 Senator Claud Hirschi of Hurricane Hurri-cane last week voted no on S.J.R. 2, proposing a state constitutional amendment to limit over-all property pro-perty taxes to 2 per cent of the assessed value in incorporated towns and to 1 per cent in unincorporated un-incorporated areas. Representative Albert E. Miller of St. George introduced H. B. 107, authorizing the government to make conveyance to certain state property in exchange for other property owned by William J. Korth and wife. He voted yes on H.B. 61, permitting counties to levy a tax for participation in noxious weed programs. He also voted yes on H.B. 33, authorizing Salt Lake City and Ogden to levy a tax for a municipal band or orchestra. Mr. Miller had the distinction of having two measures co-sponsored by him pass the senate and go to the governor for final action. They are H.B. 10, authorizing county library districts, and H.B. 24, placing plac-ing special assessment liens on a parity with general tax leins. Representative L. N. Marsden Jr. of Cedar City voted yes on H.B. 61, and no on H.B. 33, as above. |
