Show Mesquite, Nev. Daisy Reber Reporter The second Virgin Valley Elementary Elemen-tary Parent Teacher Meeting was held Thursday evening at Bunker-ville. Bunker-ville. The program included community com-munity singing, conducted by Mr. Clyde Miller, high school music director, Mrs. Anna Tobler accompanied. ac-companied. "Founder's Day" play was presented by members of the fourth grade who also sang "Lullaby." "Lul-laby." Supt. Paul Thurston gave an interesting lecture on "Visual Education," which was demonstrated demon-strated by the presentation of educational films. The social which was planned was postponed in respect re-spect to Sybil Adams who died Wednesday. There was a good attendance and the officers feel ? very encouraged for the support they are receiving from local parents. Miss Verle Allen, instructor for fourth grade underwent an appendectomy ap-pendectomy in Las Vegas hospital Monday. Reports are that Miss Allen is recovering rapidly. Mrs. Ann Hughes is teaching during Miss Allen's leave. Mrs. Loda Abbott has gone to Provo, Utah for medical treatment. treat-ment. Mrs. Cyril Granger was taken to Las Vegas for medical attention again Monday morning. Mrs. Granger has been ill the past three months. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Abbott have moved to Las Vegas where Mr. Abbott has employment in a service station. Mr. and Mrs. Alf Hardy from Las Vegas were visitors in Mesquite Mes-quite last week-end. Bishop and Mrs. William E. Abbott have returned to their home after spending considerable time in Las Vegas due to the serious illness of Mrs. Anthon Abbott, who is now improving satisfactorily. Mrs. Laurel Leavitt received word Friday of the sudden death of her nephew, Dean R. Swasey, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Swasey at Provo, Utah. Mesquite ward has recently changed their regular sacrament meetinsr to Sunday evenings in stead of Sunday afternoon. There was a very good response to this change and the Bishopric feel they have the support of the ward. Speakers at regular services Sunday, Sun-day, included Elders Fenton Freh-ner, Freh-ner, Stanley Pulsipher and L. R. Abbott, special music was furnished fur-nished by the newly organised choir under the direction of J. Elmer Hughes, conductor, and Melva Leavitt, organist. |
