Show Dixie and Snow Play Here Friday, Feb. 14 The League-Leading Snow Team Is Given the Edge But Dixie Will Fight The Dixie college basketball team will entertain the league-leading Snow college team in the local gymnasium Friday night. Although Al-though Dixie is given little chance of winning, it is on such occasions when upsets are most ' likely to occur. Coach Tolman has several good men, but none has been entirely consistent throughout the season. If they should all click as they are potentially capable, Snow could receive a surprise. Whatever What-ever the outcome, however, local fans will see one of the finest junior college teams of the mountain moun-tain conference in several years fighting every minute to maintain main-tain it's reputation. Dixie took one of the two games played last week-end. They lost to Mesa at Grand Junction Friday night 40-35, but came back the following night to win from Carbon 58-44. With this victory (Continued on page eight) Dixie To Play Snow (Continued from first page) they climbed to sixth place in the league standing, leaving Westminster, West-minster, Albion and Carbon in the last three places. Mesa took the game handily, being be-ing at no time seriously threatened. threat-ened. Carbon took the lead over Dixie at the half 27-24, although they had trailed by five points at the quarter. Dixie came back strong after the rest period, however how-ever and won handily. The B. A. C. lost to Weber 30-53 Friday, but came back the following night to down Westminster West-minster 44-39. Snow trounced Westminster in the other weekend week-end tilt 55-36. Next week the Flyers go to Cedar City to engage the Aggies in two more league games. Incidentally, Inci-dentally, they are determined to retain the ax and improve their league standing. |
