Show Dixie-Hurricane Play -Opening Game of Football Here Fri. 27th Dixie's athletic season will open on Friday, September 27, when the Hurricane six-man football team will come to St. George to oppose the Flyers. Little is known as to the relative strength of the teams, since the training season is barely under way. However, with a new sodded field to practice on, and with a year's valuable experience, the Tigers should give a good account ac-count of themselves. Added to the fact that Tolman lost most of his main string through graduation, gradu-ation, the Flyers will have to put up a good fight to win. On the other hand, five full squads havi) been turning out for practice, and the local team will put a real fight to retain their prestige of last, year, when they won the division di-vision championship and later the state play-off game. The starting line-up has not yet been announced. an-nounced. While Hurricane is playing the Flyers, Parowan will travel to Cedar City and Milford will open at Beaver. The remaining schedule in league competition is as follows: October 4 St. George at Milford; Mil-ford; Cedar City at' Hurricane; Beaver at Parowan. October 18 Milford at Cedar City; Hurricane at Beaver; St George at Parowan- October 25 Beaver at St George; Parowan at Hurricane. November 1 Cedar City at Beaver; Hurricane at Milford. November 8 Cedar City at St George; Milford at Parowan. The college schedule is not yet announced. However, Coach Tolman Tol-man will have to rebuild his squad, using several inexperienced men. So far only 21 men have turned out for practice. |
