Show Sixty Children Register At WPA Play School School Fills Need of Pre-School Age Children In St. George The WPA Play school began its program, Monday, September 16 with the organization of a mothers' mo-thers' club and the registration of over 60 five-year-old boys and-girls. and-girls. The large number of children child-ren enrolled has necessitated having hav-ing two sessions a day with Mrs. Gwendolyn Rogers and Mrs. Elsie Wood as the teachers. The mothers were organized into in-to a very fine club whose members mem-bers will be the sponsors of the school. The organization officers chosen by the mothers were: Mrs. J. V. Simmons, president; Mrs. LuZene McAllister, vice-president; Mrs. Alice Barton, secretary; Mrs. Douglas Hall, supply and equipment; equip-ment; Mrs. William Worthen, home and school coordinator; Mrs. Francis Crandall, publicity; Mrs. William Prince, social. Home room mothers chosen were Mrs. Wanda Snow for the morning session ses-sion and Mrs. Belle Randall for the afternoon session. The county school board is cooperating in this program with supervision, by furnishing supplies and supporting sup-porting the school whole-heartedly. It is hoped ' this school will prove very satisfactory and fill the need in St. George for preschool pre-school education. |
