Show NEWS OF THE COUNTY SEAT Mrs. Bertha K. Sandberg of Washington is in St. George visiting visit-ing her daughter, Mrs. Matilda Andrus this week and contemplating contemplat-ing attending the showing of "Brigham Young". Mr. and Mrs. Anson B. Call entertained en-tertained last Thursday evening at a joint house warming in theeir new home and a farewell party for Mr. and Mrs. Willis Dunkley. Following a chicken supper served serv-ed to twenty-four guests- cards were enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. B. G. Milne motored mot-ored to Springville and back on Wednesday. They took Mr. Milne's grandmother, Mrs. Lee to her home there. She has been visiting here with her daughter, Mrs. Ethel Milne. Mr. and Mrs. Willis R. Dunk-ley Dunk-ley left Monday for their new home in Provo. They entertained members of the Rotary club at their home Saturday evening with motion pictures taken at a recent Rotary party. Mrs. Elizabeth Dedekind and Mrs. Romania Rider returned to their homes in Chicago, Illinois and Provo respectively on Wednesday Wed-nesday following a visit with Mrs. Albert Fawcett. Mrs. Fawcett is reported as slightly improved but still unable to leave her bed. Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Mortenson left Sunday for their home in Sevier county. Mrs. Mortenson has been visiting at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wendell Snow for several weeks and Mr. Mortenson Mort-enson came down over the weekend week-end to take her home. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Lamoreaux, who have been connected with the Milne Truck line in Beaver are moving to Las Vegas on Saturday Sat-urday in the interest of Mr. Lam-oreaux's Lam-oreaux's health. He will be truck dispenser there for the Garrett Truck lines. 4.' "Brigham Young", Wadsworth Theatre, Sept. 21 to 25. S19C Champ Cuff of Marysvale, who has spent the past summer here working at the Standard Oil station sta-tion left today (Thursday) for Provo where he plans to spend the winter attending the B. Y. U. Employees of the J. C. Penney company and their partners were entertained at a dinner Tuesday evening at the Arrowhead banquet ban-quet room. Shirley Webb left Wednesday night for Salt Lake City where she will attend the L. D. S. Business Busi-ness college. Mr. and Mrs. Elloyd Burton and children returned to their home in Burbank, Calif., after visiting here for some time. Verl Kelsey was a St. George visitor over Sunday and Monday. Robert Martin of Milford, who attended the Dixie college during the past two years, is here visiting visit-ing friends. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Cox and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Thompson of Gunlock arrived today (Thursday) (Thurs-day) to spend the week-end here with friends' and relatives. Mrs. Afton Reber of Littlefield has returned home from the McGregor Mc-Gregor hospital where she was for medical treatment from September Sep-tember 14 to 16. Mr. and Mrs. Jos. W. Prince have had their house guest the past two weeks, Miss Vera Prince, formerly of Price, and now a nurse in the L. D. S. hospital in Salt Lake City. She took the late bus Wednesday night for Price where she will visit several days with her parents, before returning re-turning to Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Bennett arrived ar-rived Monday morning from Glendale, Calif., to visit relatives until Thursday before going on to Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Miles Nelson have returned to St. George for the winter after spending the summer near Hatch, Utah. Don't fail to see "Brigham Young", Wadsworth Theatre, September Sep-tember 21 thru 25. S19C Mrs. Reid Graff was hostess Wednesday evening to the Easy Aces with high scores going to Mrs. Clyde McQuaid and Mrs. Kenneth Cox and consolation to Mrs. Reid Mathis. The Dianas were guests Tuesday Tues-day evening of Miss Edith Crosby at her home, the evening being devoted to sewing. Refreshments were served. District Commander Henry Pickett took the late Tuesday night bus for Salt Lake City where he will attend the department depart-ment board meeting of the American Am-erican Legion. The Bridge Ettes held their Sept. 18 social at the home of Mrs. Robert Pickett with Mrs. Willard Milne and Mrs. Clark Empey sharing honors. Roxey S. Romney, Mrs. Guy Hafen . and son, Earl, Ted Seaman, Sea-man, and Miss DeVora Whitehead comprised a party who left this (Thursday) morning for Salt Lake City. They will attend the luncheon and Peace conference Friday as delegates from this section, sec-tion, and the conference of Federated Fed-erated Women's clubs of Utah on Saturday. Miss Whitehead will also be present to say "farewell" to her brother, Preston, who leaves Saturday for the mission field. Gardner and daughter, daugh-ter, Maurine, left for Pine Valley Wednesday after spending a few days here on business and visiting visit-ing friends, prior to Miss Gardner's Gard-ner's leaving for School at the B Y U. within the next few days. Margaret Mitchell entertained the young ladies of he club on Monday night. Following a dinner din-ner at the Arrowhead banquet room, the 10 girls present went to Miss Mitchell's home where they spent the rest of the evening. eve-ning. Bernice Holt left Sunday for Las Vegas, where she spent a few days visiting with Rose Leav-itt, Leav-itt, and at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cal Emery. Rhoda Cannon, Elaine Hafen, Grace Cottam and Morris Cook spent Sunday in Alton visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gad Heaton and daughter. Mrs. Milo Canfield and Mrs. Ernest Yett and son arrived here Tuesday to visit at the home of Mrs. Anna Bentley. Mrs. Arthur Fawcett and daughter, Marilyn, arrived ' here Sunday from Las Vegas, where they had been spending a week with Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Anderson. Ander-son. Born, a boy to Mr. and Mrs. Abe Zeitz on September 18. |
