Show Leeds Peaches Bought By Housewife In Brewster, Minnesota Packing peaches at Leeds during the Elberta season, Clair Snow, 11 year-old son of Pres. and Mrs. Harold S. Snow decided to try his luck at finding how far one particular par-ticular basket of peaches traveled. Placing his name, his age and .date of the pack in the bottom of the basket of top-grade Elbertas, he anxiously awaited acknowledgment acknowledg-ment which came along in due time. The letter is copied herewith: here-with: Brewster, Minn. Sept. 1, 1940 Dear Clair: I bought a bushel of peaches August 13th and found your name written on the bottom of the basket; bas-ket; thought maybe you would like to know where they went. It said in the basket they were picked pick-ed August 2nd, and bought them in Worthington, Minn., August 13th, and canned them the next day. Got 33 quarts from that bu. (Continued on page three) Boy Checks Peaches (Continued from first page) The peaches were very good. I canned 65 qt. peaches this, year. There are five of us in the family, my husband, myself and 2 of my husbands brothers and one of his sisters. Would be glad to hear from you and hear all about peach picking and of interesting things in Utah. I've been in California and Oregon Ore-gon twice but have never been in Utah. I think you did very well for an 11-year-old. Write and tell me all about yourself. Sincerely, Mrs. Roy McLeod. Checking over the U. S. map, Clair has been delighted to see how far his prize basket of peaches traveled and to know that the purchaser was satisfied with them, and took time off to write him. "I wouldn't have believed they could have gone so far", he said, "but they were sure good peaches. I packed them carefully and have written to tell Mrs. MeLeod I hope she buys more Dixie peaches next year and that I get to pack them. I told her about St. George and my family, too, and I hope she writes me again." |
