I If DEPUTY LARRY CROWL has been promoted to detective corporal. f r j ... - V - ... J KEN KONRAD has been hired as the new jailer for the Uintah County Jail. Sheriff adds, promotes deputies Three new employees have been added to the Uintah County Sheriff's office and two deputies have been promoted. Monice Jones, 18, is employed in the clerical division of the Sheriff's Department through the Youth Development Program. Miss Jones is a graduate of Uintah High School Adult Education with the class of 1980-81. She transferred to Uintah High from Cottonwood High School in Salt Lake City, where she was active in the German Club. At Uintah High Miss Jones was active in the music department. She is interested in music and ceramics. She is the daughter of John and Linda Anderson of Vernal. Manuel Cantu has also joined the Sheriff's Department, transferring from the Vernal City Police Department. Depart-ment. Officer Canut has five years police training, serving in Rio Blanco County, Colo., for two years and with Vernal City for three years. Cantu is a Police Officer Standards and Training graduate and attended the Colordado Northwestern College majoring in chemistry. He has attended several seminars on drug use and identification. iden-tification. He is the father of four children, Donna, 16; who resides in Ohio; Eddie who will attend Vernal Junior High School 9th grade this year, Gayle 2, and Scott, 1. Cantu speaks several Slavick languages and speaks fluent Polish. His parents. Manuel and Jessie Cantu, reside in Phoenix, Ariz. Also joining the Sheriff Department is Ken Konrad. Deputy Konrad is a retired Navy Chief Quartermaster (E-7). (E-7). While in the Navy he served on cruisers and on tug boats. He will serve as the Uintah County Jailer. He is a graduate of Long Beach City College in California where he majored in small engine maintenance and business administration. He and his wife Angie moved to Vernal three years ago from California. He is the father of two children. His son, Jon, will attend Vernal Junior High School 8th grade this fall. Deputy Larry Crowl has been promoted to detective corporal. Cpl. Crowl has been with the Uintah County Sheriff Department for l1 years. In addition to his departmental duties, Crowl will serve on the Utah State Crime Council. He is a retired southern California police sergeant. He is a graduate of the Police Officers Standards Stan-dards and Training both in California and Utah. He also has an Associate of Arts degree in administration of Justice from CAL State University in Los Angeles. Calif. Crowl is married to the former Lorraine Larsen of Vernal who is operations manager at First Interstate Bank. He is the father of four teenagers, two w ill attend schools in the Uintah School District this year. Deputy Lee England has been promoted to corporal of patrol. England has served with the department depart-ment since January 19R1 as juvenile transportation officer. He has been in law enforcement for the past 7'? years, serving in Salt Lake County Sheriff's Deprrtment prior to moving to Vernal. He is a graduate of Police Officers Standards and Training in Utah. He attended Ricks College in Idaho, Brigham Young University and University of Utah with majors in sociology and accounting. He is a former member of the Utah Council for Alternative Education, and is fluent in sign language. He and his wife, Cheryl, are parents of two children, Cheralee and J. Lynn. |
