Terry Labonte was third and pole-sitter Harry Gant placed fourth. Bobby Allison, who led most of the race until falling behind with eight laps to go, placed fifth. The 32-year-old Bouchard averaged 156.737 mph in a race that was slowed with times by caution flags covering 36 laps. There were 39 lead changed among 11 drivers. Bouchard has finished in the top 10 five times this season. Nelson Piquet of Brazil overcame damage to the skirting of his car, powered skillfully through a 24 car field and won the West German Grand Prix. French driver Alain Prost was second, 11.52 seconds behind Piquet who won in one hour, 25 minues, 55.6 seconds. |
