Show Colorado service held for former Banker Services were held in Grand Junction, Junc-tion, Colo., on July 20 for Donald R. Barr. Born Dec. 8, 1940 in Utica, Kan., he grew up in the Grand Junction area. He graduated from Mesa College, Grand Junction. Married Ellen Louise Long in Vernal, Sept. 12, 1932. He lived in Vernal from 1928 to 1972. He is survived by his wife, a son, Donal James Barr, Jackson Hole, Wyo.; two sisters, Mrs. Marjorie Carnine, Grand Junction and Mrs. Mildred F. Jensen, Grand Junction and two grandchildren. He was employed by the Bank of Vernal in 1941 starting as a bookkeeper and retired in 1972 as president of the bank. He was a charter member of the Vernal Rotary Club and was a member of the Vernal Masonic Lodge. He was a past Master of the Vernal Ashley Masonic Lodge No. 28. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was also a member of the El Kalah Society. He was active in many other civic groups and was influential in the development of the Vernal area. |
