Long a friend to America, the country of Australia is now doing something that may contribute to putting an end to some of our unemployment problems. That country and its companies com-panies help improve our employment em-ployment picture two ways. First, there are Australian-based Australian-based companies and busi-nesspeople busi-nesspeople who are investing in America. They are forming form-ing and developing industries indus-tries that hire American workers. Second, some definitely desirable jobs are available over there, and Australia has been seeking people skilled in management, computers, engineering and accounting. More than 80,000 North Americans are living in Australia, Aus-tralia, enjoying the climate and career opportunities this island continent has to offer. In these ways, Australia not only opens up more jobs here, but also- reduces the number of applicants for the jobs that do become available.
