Show Wildlife Bosird sefs Utahns may begin hunting most species of upland game on September 19. according to regulations set by the Wildlife Board June 18. The pheasant season has been extended ex-tended to fourteen days, November 7- 20, in Box Elder, Cache, Davis and Weber counties. Duchesne and Uintah counties will continue a 16-day season from November 7-22. In other areas of the state, the pheasant season will be November 7-15. On all state and federal land in Carbon, Duchesne, Emery, Grand, Juab, San Juan, Tooele and Uintah counties, the pheasant season w ill be November 7 through December 6. The statewide daily bag limit for pheasant is two cocks. The sage grouse season will be September 19-25 in all open areas of the state, except a portion of Tooele County, where a September 21-25 season is in effect. Utah, Juab, Emery, Sanpete, Davis, Salt Lake and Washington counties, and portions of Tooele, Wasatch and Grand counties will be closed to sage grouse hunting during 1981. In Daggett, Duchesne and Uintah counties and portions of Wasatch, Box Elder and Grand counties, the daily bag limit for sage grouse is two. In Beaver, Garfield, Iron, Kane, Millard, Piute, Sevier and Wayne counties, the bag limit is three. In Cache, Morgan, Summit and Weber counties and portions of Box Elder, San Juan, Wasatch and Tooele, the daily bag limit is one sage grouse. Forest grouse may be hunted statewide from September through November 30. The daily bag limit is four. The chukar season begins September 19, except in Daggett, Duchesne and Uintah counties, which are closed to chukar hunting, due to an extensive chukar transplanting program in these areas by the Division of Wildlife. The chukar season closes January 31 in all areas, except Davis, Cache, Morgan, Rich, Sanpete, Summit and Wasatch counties, and portions of Box Elder, Juab, Salt Lake, Utah, and Weber counties lying east of Highway Interstate In-terstate 15, where the season closes November 30. The statewide daily bag limit for chukars is five. Hungarian partridge may be hunted September 19 to January 31 in Tooele County and the portions of Box Elder, Weber, Utah, Juab and Salt Lake counties lying west of Interstate Highway High-way 15. The Hungarian partridge season will be Sept. 19 to November 30 in Davis, Morgan, Cache, Rich and Summit counties and the portions of Box Elder, Weber, Salt Lake, Utah and Juab counties lying east of Interstate Highway 15. The daily bag limit for Hungarian partridge is five in all areas of the state. The quail season has been set for November 7-15, except in Duchesne and Uintah counties, where the season is November 7-22, and in Washington County, where the season is November 7 through December 31. Grand County, closed to quail hunting last year, is now open. Morgan and Summit counties remain closed to quail hunting. The statewide daily bag limit for quail is five, except in Washington County, where the bag limit is eight. Cottontail rabbits and snowshoe hares may be hunted September 19 through January 31, 1982, in all areas of the state. The daily bag limit for cottontail cot-tontail is ten, except in Carbon, Cache, Daggett, Davis, Duchesne, Morgan, Rich, Summit, Uintah and Weber counties, and portions of Box Elder County, where the limit is five. In all areas of the state the daily bag limit for snowshoe is five. The wild turkey season has been set for September 19-30 in Iron, Kane, Wayne and Washington counties and the portion of Garfield County lying west of Highway U.S. 89. In Grand County and a portion of San Juan County, the season is September 19 through October 11. Hunters may take one turkey of either sex. |
