Show Nixon liable for spying The Supreme Court Monday upheld a ruling which will make former President Nixon and two aids liable for damages for illegally spying on a former National Security Council official of-ficial and his family. The court's action will send the case back to a federal trial court, where former national security aide Morton Halperin will try to prove that he and his family are entitled to a substantial award. Monday's decision carries little or no impact on future cases because it was affirmed by an equally divided 4-4 vote. Any tie vote, by court rules, upholds the lower court ruling. |
