Show 0 DAVID SANTOS, District Fire Warden for Uintah County reminds local residents that burn permits can be obtained by calling 789-2092 or 789-5858. State forester urges purchase of burn permit Before setting fire to your property to clear dead foliage it may be advisable to check with the Division of State Land Forestry and Fire Control. State Forester Paul Sjoblom has designated that from June 1 to Oct. 31 as a closed fire season making it unlawful to set fire or cause to be set on fire any inflammable material on any forest, brush, range, grass, grain stubble or hay land without first securing a written burning permit from the State Forester or a designated deputy. Burning permits are not a means of prohibiting the public from open burning. It is a way by which all fire fighting agencies are made aware of your controlled burn, thus reducing the need and cost of fire fighters responding respon-ding to a reported fire which turns out to be a controlled fire, Sjoblom said. |
