ATWOOD The sons and daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan W. Atwood are honoring their parents on the 60th anniversary of their marriage at an open house in Syracuse, at the home of a daughter Mrs. Richard Kearsley on Saturday, June 27 from 2 to 5 p.m. Ivan Willard Atwood was born in Vernal June 2, 1899 to Charles Barber and Minnetta Johnstun Atwood. He joined the. navy When a teenager and served during World War I. He was a baker and worked for some years in the Chicago area before returning to Vernal Ver-nal where he worked in the local bakery. On June 27, 1921 he married Marie Hall. Their marriage was later solomnized in the Logan LDS Temple. The next 20 years he spent as farmer, miner, cook, timberman and construction worker. He was a postal clerk in the Vernal office at the time they left Vernal in 1942 to take employment at the Clearfield Naval Supply Depot. After the completion comple-tion of that project they resided in Oregon and Idaho until returning to Utah in 1978. They have two sons and three daughters, Dr. - Garth Atwood, Preston, Idaho; Charley Atwood, Caldwell, Idaho; Mrs. Arvel (Elva) Allred, Vernal; Ver-nal; Mrs. Richard (Marvel) Kearsley, Syracuse, Utah; Mrs. Leland (Aljce) Mecham , Redding, California. A son and daughter are deceased. They also have 22 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren. |
