Show 4-H Ambassadors elected at USU Marjean Oviatt, Vernal, has been named 4-H Ambassador for Uintah County. Miss Oviatt was elected to this new position at the June 15-17 State 4-H Youth Conference on Leadership held at Utah State University in Logan. John Paul Murphy, new assistant state 4-H leader, says the 4-H Ambassador Am-bassador program has been successful in other states and the 4-Hers seem very excited about starting it in Utah. He says there is still a need to dispel the image of 4-H being only for rural youth and those under 15 years old. The ambassadors will work as public relations coordinators in their communities com-munities and help raise financial support and community interest in their counties. honorable mention ribbons will be awarded to all the young riders that are participating in the shows. The Traildusters are welcoming some new members into the club this week. They are Michelle Mathes, Heather Caldwell and Stacey Wardel. A trail ride was held Saturday afternoon. af-ternoon. Janet Lesh led riders Joelle Oviatt, Anne Massey, Susan Jolley, Heidi Lesh and Jacque Hobbs on an enjoyable, though windy ride through the foothills above Doc's Beach Hill. Another O-Mok-See fun night is planned for July 21st at the Uintah County Fairgrounds. Registration will be at 6:30 with the show starting promptly at 7 p.m. Events at the show will include Scudda-Ho, Barrel and Stake, Egg and Spoon, Barrel Race, and back by popular demand Balloon Busting, this time to include the 12 to 15 age group as well as the 11 and under division. Gift certificates will be awarded for the fastest time in Scudda-Ho Scudda-Ho and Barrel and Stake. |
