Show Moon Lake Electric rate increase approved Steve A. Glaim, general manager of Moon Lake Electric Association, announced an-nounced last week . that the pass-through pass-through increase requested at a public hearing March 25 was approved by the Association's Board of Directors. Glaim stated that the Board's decision was made after deliveration of the evidence presented by management, comments from con sumers in attendance at the meeting, and a petition that was filed. Commenting on the increase, Glaim said. "The purpose of the pass through is to recover increases in wholesale power costs as a result of a 2012 percent increase in Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) rates and a change in the billing method of Deseret Generation and Transmission Cooperative." "The additional $.00249 for each kilowatt-hour sold, effective March 25, will only recover the amount of the increased wholesale rates and does not deal with inflationary pressures," said the Cooperative manager. Glaim also stated that, "The Association has been absorbing the WAPA increase since January 26, 1981, and has been in- SU uiiieiiLdi ill uuiumg uu llic lcacici increase since Oct. 24, 1980. The consumers con-sumers have been saved over $800,000 during this time. There is no way the Association can continue to absorb the increases and remain financially stable." Application for a similar increase has been granted by the Colorado Public Utilities Commission for the Colorado portion of the Moon Lake system. |
