Show By Teresa Smith Several teams, sponsored by the various clubs and organizations and some independents, competed in the inter-school knowledge bowl on March 18 at Uintah. There were some tough competitive matches in this year's contest and Uintah will be well represented at the District Meet, which will be held April 2. The top three teams from Uintah will take part in the event. They are: Girl's League; Science Club; and the Conquistadors (Spanish Club). The region FBLA contest was held on March 26 at Utah Tech in Provo. Uintah had a number of business students who placed. They are: Allen Sowards, first, accounting; Wendy Sawyer, third, shorthand I; Denise Ridiah, third, type II; Coreena Sawyer, fourth, shorthand I; Kathy Jameson, fifth, office procedures; Carolyn Wooley, sixth, shorthand I. Many of the forensics team members traveled to Salt Lake City last Thursday, Thur-sday, Friday and Saturday to participate par-ticipate in the state meet. The following people received "excellent" ratings for their work: Arlene Bowden, Russ Griffin, Donny Sawyer, Jackie Hardy, and Jim Baker. The contest was held at the University of Utah. Another Uintah observation competed com-peted in a state meet this week. The FFA held its yearly competition in Provo. At the contest, the future farmers far-mers compete in things like public speaking, parliamentary procedure and the FFA sweetheart contest. Also, the state officers were elected. |
