Show Uintah Ute tracksters to host Judge Bulldogs The Uintah Utes will host the Judge Memorial Bulldogs in a track meet, Thursday and will battle Tooele on the road, April 9. The field events in the . meet with Judge Memorial will begin at 3:15 pm and the track events will begin at 4 p.m. Rick Morton, Dave Emery, Lynn Reynolds, Blake Ewell, Mike Johnson and Brian Long will take part in the 100 and 200 meter runs and Johnson, Randy Smuin, Felix Espinoza, Long, Bucky Tingey, Ewell and Bart Steinfeldt will take part in the 440. Ken Richens, Gary Watkins, Jerry Allred, David Sadlier, Russ Smith, Devin Wright, Gordon Clark, Larson Caldwell and Randy Haws are 880 contestants and 1600-3200 runners are Allred, Calvin Knight, Doug Gardner, Morgan Murri, Clark, Wright, Caldwell and Sadlier, according accor-ding to Uintah track coach, Curg Belcher. Uintah Ute athletes who will compete in the field events are: Kent Bascom, Gary Galley, Ray Staney, Torr McCur-dy, McCur-dy, high jump; Brent Hales, Emery, Roger Griffin, Darrin Caldwell, Richard Capps, Esponiza, Paul Nelson, McCurdy, Bill Carmickle, John Wood, Kevin Campbell, discus; Hales, Emery, D. Caldwell, McCurdy, Nelson, Jody Young, Carmickle, Capps, javelin and Hales, Emery, Griffin, Caldwell, Nelson, Young, Wood and Cupp, shot put. The Utes will host the Cyprus Pirates, Wednesday, April 15 and will battle Jordan Jor-dan in Vernal, April 23. Uintah will compete in the Craig Invitational, April 25 and will battle Murray on the road, April 30. Uintah will compete in the -Brigham Young University Invitational May 2 at Provo and will take part in a sophomore meet, May 1. The region meet is set for May 8 and 9 at Cyprus High School in Magna and the state meet is scheduled for May 15 and 16 at Weber State College. Uintah's girls track team will compete com-pete in the same region meets that the boys will take part in. The Utes have Pennie Murray back in the 880 and Kathy Chivers returning in the 100 and 220. Murray placed third in the 880 at the 1980 state meet with a time of 2:24. Other girls, who are members of the Uintah track team, are: Heidi Green, 100-200; Tammie LeBeau, 220, high jump, long jump; Vickie Simper, 100; Annie Harris, 100; Kathleen Huber, 100; Susie Feltch, shot put, javelin; Sherri Young, mile; Michelle Swim, shot put, long jump; Sheila Givens, 2 mile; Margie Daley, shot put, javelin, 110 hurdles; Eva Teviatt, mile; Kim Downs, 880 and Pearl Dennis, 2 miles. Uintah's gymnastics team will compete com-pete in the region meet at Cyprus High School, Friday at noon. The top six and any gymnast with a score of 8.0 or better bet-ter will take part in the state meet at Woods Cross High School. |
