Show I Maples B Jo Openshaw 1 Phone 789-3157 Merrell-Kay win awards in science fair i Darrin Merrell won first place in the 7th grade and Paul Kay won second place in the 8th grade science fair at Vernal Junior High School last week. Michael Karren accompanied by his mother, Verna Karren, went to Salt Lake City Saturday, March 21 to bring home his son Joshua Michael from the University Hospital where he had been taken for a checkup. They returned Sunday. Rick Salazar, a student at the University of Utah, spent the weekend with his family, the Charles Olsens. Edith Goodrich of Bountiful has been visiting at the Edna R. Call home. Angala Coonradt has a grandson born to Glen and Diane Hansen March 26 at the Uintah County Houpital. The baby weighed, seven pounds seven ounces. He will be named Joshua. Great grandparents are Clyde and Ina ,i Marquite Hammond and childreh of Denver, Colo., have been visiting her parents, Boyd and Erma Merrell. Mrs. Hammond's husband Douglas came via air to drive his family home Sunday. Elaine Merrell of Salt Lake City spent the weekend with her parents, Grant and Frances Merrell and sister Jane. Bill Pitchford who has been employed em-ployed in Alaska came home last week. Brenda Olsen and Ronda Olsen entertained en-tertained March 23 at a birthday dinner at the Dan Olsen home honoring Charles Olsen. Present were the Dan Olsen family, Wade and Ronda Olsen and son and Charles and Hazel Olsen. Doris Ann Merrell of Salt Lake City was home for the weekend with her parents, the Dale Merrells and family. Last week Marj Martin entertained a group of children at a birthday party for her daughter Brenda. They played games and had refreshments. Susan Weaver entertained fifteen youngsters at a birthday party in honor of her daughter Angie's fourth birthday March 24 at her home. They played games and refreshments were served. Amy Pope and the Lorin Merrells have a new grandson born March 26 to Wayne and Yvonne Pope. The baby weighed 9 lbs. 12 '4 oz., and will be named Matthew Lorin. Clyde and Ruby Nash of Rock Springs, Wyo., visited over the weekend with the Ray Nash family. While they were here they celebrated their first wedding anniversary. Von Stewart returned home last week 1 after spending ten days visiting his family in California. He visited his son Carvel and family in Fullerton, a daugher, Gloria Major and family in Sherman Oaks, and a granddaughter, Kathryrp Patterson, in Sacramento. Alma Jeffries and Chloe Vaughn visited Ralph and Nellie Southam last Wednesday. Chris Richarson's mother, Mrs. Steve Pahman of Madison, Wis., is visiting here with the Richardson family. Mark and Betta Nash went to Salt Lake City Sunday, March 22 where Mark had a cornea transplant Monday. They returned home the latter part of the week. M.M. Hardy returned Sunday from the St. Mark's Hospital where he had surgery. Peggy Goodrich returned home from the Uintah County Hospital this weekend after several days there following surgery. Keith and Linda Murray and sons went to Salt Lake City Saturday returning Sunday evening. Glenn and Ada Openshaw accompanied ac-companied by Wilford Olsen and Josephine Openshaw visited Emma Holmes in Roosevelt last Thursday. |
