The instrumental numbers were as follows: Percussion Ensemble "Tom, Dick and Jerry" by Matthew Briggs, Robby O'Rourke, Mike Nicotera and Troy Sadlier. Snare drum solo, "March to a Different Tune" by Matthew Briggs. Clarinet choir "Bouree" by Handel-Michelle Charette, Shane Erekson, Michelle Steinaker, Julia Erickson and Lisa Briggs. Flute duet "LaVolta" by Byrd-Susie Cook and Darla Beck. Alto saxophone solo "Madrigal" by Morley-Kenneth Thompson. Baritone saxophone solo "Largo" by Handel-Joe Ruebeck. Flute solo "Aria" by Purcell-Sandra San-dquist. San-dquist. Baritone solo "Waltz with Juliet" by Fote-Celeste Skabelund. In the vocal solos and ensembles were the following numbers and participants: Girl's double trio, Carma Sadlier, Shari Reed, Robin Sadlier, Monica Wilde, Deana Mitchell and Janet Rogers. Wanda Larsen is the educational program director and Kathy Meinrod is the district chairman. chair-man. Volunteer workers will be calling at Daggett county homes in April. Their goal is $500. Six Manila 41! leaders attended a special 4-H leaders appreciation dinner at the S.C.M. Parish Center In Rock Springs, Wyo., on March 26. The dinner was sponsored by John Hay, Jr. of the Rock Springs National Bank. Mr. Hay has been a constant supporter of the 4-H in Sweetwater County for many years. This dinner honored leaders who have served in the past two years. New leaders were Introduced and leaders for the year of l'rno received pins and certificates. Starla Hall, 4-H member from Rock Springs, gave a talk on the trip she had last year going to Washington, DC. in citizeaihip. Ben Stockwell, Sweetwater County 4-H Youth Advisor, announced that there would be two members going from the county this year. They are Natalie Radosevich of Dutch John and Michael Todd Potter of McKlnnon, Wyo. Both of these 4-H members are students at Manila High School. Those attending the dinner were Mr. and Mm. Floyd lirlggs, Mr. and Mm. Dale RrlggR, and Mr. and Mrs. Wm.E. Robinson, The first meeting of the Manila 4-H Lamb Club project was held at the home of their leader, Tom Maloy on Thursday, March 12. The following officers were elected: Kristee Briggs, president; Matthew Briggs, vice president, Susie Cook, secretary; Lisa Briggs, weight gain committee; Todd Cook, showmanship committee and Marcie Briggs, judging committee. Members present were Kristee Briggs, Matthew Briggs, Lisa Briggs, Marcie Briggs, David Briggs, Bevin Briggs, Todd Cook, Susie Cook. Glenna Tinker, Lennie Cook, Eric Maloy and Kimberly Maloy. Tuesday, March 17 the Manila LDS Relief Society held the annual Relief Society birthday celebration at the Manila LDS recreational hall. A large crowd enjoyed the dinner and program which followed. Those participating in the program were Mrs. William Briggs who acted as master of ceremonies, Twila Kesterson, Mrs. William Carter, Johnny Rosser and Burl Twitchell and his daughter, Mrs. Fred Lambert. TheM&L Homemakerk Club held the March meeting at the Manila High School cafeteria on March 19. Florence Christensen directed the making of casseroles and Peggy Briggs directed the making of salads. A film was shown by Wanda Larson, educational director for the cancer drive. Hostesses were Florence Christensen, Lena Schoficld, Aleta Ellsworth, Clara Robinson, and' Fayette Wilde. "It" packages were won by Sara Lamb, Lisa Coulter, Lena Schofield, Velma Lamb and Aleta Ellsworth. Visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. I.E. Ruble for two months are Mrs. Ruble's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs Ray Yohey of Anncrly, Australia. This will be a reuniting of the two couples after an absence of nearly thirty-five years. During the Yohcy'g stay, a Yohey reunion will be held in Reno, Nev. Mr. and Mrs. D.S. Ruble,. Mr. and Mrs. Ray L. Ruble and Mr. and Mrs. Allan Campbell as well as the I.E. Rubles will attend. Also visiting at the I.E. Ruble's this week are Mrs. Ruble's cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Lowham and son Kenneth of Nora, Neb. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Campbell recently took their son Jesse to Bountiful for medical attention and while there visited with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Kerivan of Layton, Utah. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Kent Olson this weekend were Kent's sisters Mrs. Mabel Fields and Mrs. Margret Davidson. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Iverson arrived Monday, March 23 from Yuma, Ariz., where they had spent the winter. They visited relatives in Fillmore, Utah and friends in St. George on the way home. Kathy Swanson's mother, Mrs. Gladys Swcnson and her mother's sister of Montpelier, Iduho visited with her this weekend. Glenn Ellsworth was home from Vernal this weekend. Twila Kesterson, Manila High School teacher, attended a workshop in llelcr the latter part of this week. Mr. and Mrs. Ivnn East have bren In Manila the past two weeks, They spent the winter In warmer climate. |
