Show Petroleum program receives success The Petroleum Technician program at the Uintah Basin Area Vocational Center (UBAVC) in Roosevelt is receiving a 90 percent placement rate, reports Kathy Hall, UBAVC. Bruce Brighton of Roosevelt is the director of the Petroleum Technician program. After a year of preparation, the program started in the Fall of 1978, but the center continued searching for a person qualified in various aspects of the petroleum field. In January of 1979 the Advisory Board recommended Brighton for the position. He has been associated with the Rocky Mountain Fuel Symposium and the American Petroleum Institute. Course work in the program includes rotary drilling, well completion, production techniques and formation evaluation. The program will begin this fall. |
