Show Mid-year building report shows marked increase Contrary to the general trend throughout the country, construction in . Vernal City during the first six months in 1980 is almost double that of the same period in 1979. According to the half year building report presented to Vernal City by Ron Stone, building officer, the valuation of buildings for 1980 are $3,249,285 with a total of 203 permits issued. During the same period in 1979 the valuation amounted to $1,816,331 for 168 permits. Stone said the increase this year is attributed to new apartments, duplexes and commercial buildings. He said labor and building material costs this year have been the lowest for some time and this has probably caused the increase in building starts. Commercial construction for the first half of 1980 was valued at $861,075 for only four permits. In 1979 the valuation was only $65,000 on three permits. Commercial remodeling during 1980 amounted to $651,124 for 19 permits and in 1979 the valuation amounted to $120,800 for 15 permits. Multi-family dwellings in 1980 amounted to a valuation of $544,600 for nine permits or 24 units. During 1979 there were no multi-family building permits issued during the first six month period. |
