Show Soldier monument Dear People of Vernal, Utah: Two of my sons are soldiers, as am I. Your monument to your World War I soldiers is unique, but impressive. The soldier is life-size, not ten or twenty feet tall he represents reality, not an old tank or Howitzer, but an almost alive person. The names on the statue are of real people who were specifically honored, not just those whose mothers got gold stars, but all of them. A soldier pays a dear price for what he does and he does it very alone. Your monument to a soldier where it is and what it is gives your town the most beautiful monument to soldiers I have ever seen. Remembering it will help me to continue being the soldier I should be. A Tourist from Salt Lake City |
