Ross Construction, Con-struction, toppled the first place, Conoco team, 18 to 14, Thursday in a wild barn burner, which produced the second loss of the season for Cnnoco. Both teams were held scoreless in the first inning and then Ross Construction jumped out toa 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Vernie Heeney got on base due to a walk and scored a few moments later Conoco failed to score any runs in the bottom oi tne second inning, but Ross Construction increased its lead to 3-0 with two runs in the top of the third inning. KayLyn Hacking got on base due to a walk and scored a run. Julie Hacking slugged a home Jun for the other counter. The Conoco team woke from its hitting nap as they blasted Ross Construction Con-struction four runs and a 4-3 lead at the end of the third inning. Lori LeBeau, Jodene Merkley, Lisa jorgensen and Kym Buckalew scored runs for Conoco. Kym smashed a round-tripper. However, Ross Construction matched mat-ched Conoco's four run explosion with a four-run attack of its own in the top of the fourth inning, which netted them a 7 to 4 lead. Jamie Swett, Clifta Corless, KayLyn Hacking and Julie Hacking scored runs for Ross Construction. Conoco added two more runs in the fourth inning to cut Ross Construction's lead to 7 to 6. Lori LeBeau and Carolene Mackay gained counters for Conoco. Clifta Corless and Julie Hacking ...crossed homeplate for Ross Construction Con-struction in the top of the fifth inning, which increased Ross', lead to 9 to 6. Clifta belted, a circuit clout. Kym Buckalew's second homer of the evening narrowed Ross Construction's lead to 9 to 7 after five innings of action. Ross Construction was blanked in the top of the sixth inning and then Conoco massacred its opponent with a five-run attack, which netted them a 12 to 9 advantage. However. Ross Construction came right back and scored five runs of its own for a 14 to 12 lead in the top of the seventh innine. Conoco scored two runs, with its back against the wall, and tied the game up at 14-14 in the bottom of the seventh inning. Jodene Merkley and Diane Workman scored counters for Conoco. Diane slugged a double. Ross Construction blasted Conoco for four runs in the top of the eighth inning and blanked Conoco in the bottom of the eighth inning to make the final score: Ross Construction 18 and Conoco, 14.
