Show Utah oil and gas drilling activities Oil and gas drilling in the Nephi area of Juab County is attracting attention notes Carlton Stowe, spokesman for the Utah Department of Natural Resources. He says that Placid Oil Company. Denver, has announced location for a fourth exploratory test well in the vicinity where the company is currently at work drilling three "wildcat" wells. They are from six to twelve miles south and southwest of Nephi, in the Sevier Reservoir area, and in the West Hills region north of the Mills area. Placid's new test well is the No. 2 WXC-State. At the No. 1 WXC-State, the operator is drilling below 9,500 feet. It is projected to a depth of at least 14,500 feet. Placid is drilling below 8,500 feet at the No. 1 WXC-Barton and below 2,000 feet at the No. 1 WXC-Howard. Mr. Stowe reports that a testing program on seven shallow wells in northeastern Utah's Uintah County is underway. Carmack Drilling Company is testing the wells located some 15 miles southeast of Vernal. They are five to six miles north of the Red Wash oil field and about the same distance southeast of Jensen. In the southern area of the county. Chancellor and Ridgeway will drill two 4.700 to 5.000 foot exploratory test wells at the No. 3 and 4 Rat Hole Unit. They are more than 40 miles northwest of Fruita. Colorado. Active drill rigs number 28 in Utah at this time, four more than a month ago. Drilling activities are widely scattered throughout the state. Records show 142 wells completed in Utah so far this year compared with 118 the same time last vear. f" |
