Show TPJ3UNE AND WALKERS REACH i AN ADJUSTMENT - i Everybody will be pleased to learn that an. amicable adjustment of the business difficulties which have existed between Walker Bros. Dry Goods company com-pany . and the . Tribune have been reached. The best of feeling now pre-vails pre-vails and customer and subscriber alike will be pleased with the news that these two pioneer institutions are strain enjoying en-joying friendly, relations. The Tribune prints the following statement: A STATEMENT OF FACTS. Why Walker Bros. Dry Goods Company Withdrew Advertising From the Tribune; Difficulties Adjusted. As the public is still speculating as to why the Walker Bros.' Dry Goods company withdrew its- advertising from the Tribune, in justice to Walker Bros. Dry Goods company we desire to explain ex-plain the facts and the company's grievance. The Walker company's purely business busi-ness dissatisfaction had been growing for some time, the management feeling that upon several occasions the store had been discriminated against. When this was brought to the attention of the management of the Tribune, immediate steps were taken to avoid any further misapprehension along that line. This has been done to the satisfaction of the advertiser and the publisher. The break between the Walker company com-pany and the Tribune followed the publication pub-lication of an article which appeared in the issue of March 19, second column, page two. containing an elaborate advertisement ad-vertisement of a competitor under a news head, in which the name of Walker Bros, should not have been used. Walker Bros, felt that this was an unjust un-just discrimination and belittled them, and we concede that this publication furnished grounds for the complaint. Appreciating the fact that manv readers of the Tribune are patrons of the 'Walker Bros. Dry Goods company, we believe that in fairness to the com- Sany and the public, this explanation is ue, and it is needless to say that the Tribune welcomes the renewing of business busi-ness relations with this pioneer ad. vertiser. This, and not politics, explains Walker Bros.' attitude and the causu for discontinuing their advertising with the Tribune. |
