Show BIG WATER MAIN ON THE WEST SIDE THREATENED FLOOD Buildings In First South street. Just east of Hecond West street, narrowing escaped bblng flooded early yesterday morning by the bursting of an eight-inch water main having a pressure of nearly ninety pounds. Although the main was nearly six feet below the ground the curb was pushed out of shape and for several yards the asphaltum was torn from the concrete work. For several hours springs bubbled up in the pavement. Had the water found an easy course a terrible volume of water would have raced out of the break and flooded . the neighborhood. The Waterworks Water-works department found It necessary to cut four holes before the leak could be found. |
