Show YEAR IN JAIL FOR SENDING A FALSE TELEGRAPH MESSAGE Judge Armstrong sentenced D. V. Stewart, Stew-art, a telegraph operator, to one year in the State penitentiary for telegraphing a falso message over the wires of the Western Union Telegraph company, by means of which he obtained money under false pretenses. Stewart pleaded guilty and waived the time for sentence. Stewart was an Oregon Short Line operator op-erator at Syracuse Junction. He telegraphed tele-graphed an order on to Salt Lake for transportation to Poeatello, Ida., and asking ask-ing that $25 be advanced him on account. ac-count. To this he signed the name of W. Lowery,. general agent at Poeatello. He received the money, but was arrested shortly after. |
