Show BALL-TOSSERS' LIVELY WORK IN FIRST PRACTICE 'Twasn't hot enough for fans yesterday, yester-day, but a big bunch o' 'em filled the grandstand and bleachers at Walkers' field in the afternoon to watch our lads practice for the Salt Lake team. Byerybody was surprised by the way Fred Castro handled himself and the horsehlde at short, and predicted that he'll start something this year in the baseball line that'll make the others sit up and cogitate. Ray Romncy showed the stuff that was In him yesterday. In the manner he handled han-dled the ball. All of the others champed around as If they liked it, and if they keep up the same gingery style during the season, they'll get the crowds. The grounds are in bad shape because of the recent rains, but Dad Dubel will fix 'em up at once, and have them ready for a match game Sunday with a local team. |
